What is Hospice?
Hospice is a type of care that provides comfort and improves quality of life to people who have a prognosis of six month or less.
Helping patients with pain, symptoms, financial concerns, psychosocial issues, placement issues, medical supplies, equipment and Peace of Mind really are the primary goals in which Hospice care is provided to people and their loved ones.
Physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains and support staff all combine an interdisciplinary approach to people wherever they live and call home.

What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care is a concept of care to alleviate pain and symptoms for people that suffer from chronic conditions.
Palliative care can treat people of all ages with all illnesses and are for people that are not terminally ill.
Physicians, chaplains, and social workers all supplement the care of a person's primary physician in order to provide comfort and pain free symptom management to people dealing with chronic illness.
People may receive palliative care at the hospital, in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or palliative care clinics.

What does hospice pay for?
Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies cover Hospice services.
This includes medications, medical equipment and medical supplies. It also includes when you need it, spiritual care, bereavement support and respite for caregivers. All of this is provided wherever you call home.

What is an interdisciplinary team?
At Gulfside Hospice, patients have access to a whole team that works together to create a plan of care tailored to fit their needs and supplement the care of a primary care physician.
We know that patients need more than just healthcare.
The interdisciplinary team includes nursing staff, CNAs, doctors, but it also includes counselors, social workers, chaplains and volunteers at the ready.

Are there any special ways to remember my loved one?
The Walls of caring and Butterfly Memorial Gardens at Gulfside Hospice are a special source of comfort to those who have lost a loved one.
Their family members and friends are remembered with a donation to support Gulfside.
Each Gulfside Hospice Care Center features a unique Wall of Caring that beautifully displays the names of loved ones forever.
In our Butterfly Memorial Gardens, located in Zephyrhills and in New Port Richey, serene pathways of engraved bricks are flanked by dedicated benches, containing inspirational messages in honor of a cherished family member or friend.

Donations to Gulfside Hospice help provide comfort medication, nursing care, bereavement services and spiritual support to our patients in their final days.

Why does hospice need donations?
Most families can't imagine how they would have coped with the illness and loss of their loved one without Gulfside Hospice. And yet, hospice care may not be readily available in the future without the support that comes from donations. Changes in healthcare, including rising costs, have a direct impact here at Gulfside.
Donations are critical to helping us ensure that no patient is turned away because of an inability to pay.

How do I donate to the Gulfside Hospice Thrift Shoppes?
Gulfside Hospice Thrift Shoppes gratefully accepts donations at each of our four locations. Pick up for furniture donations is also available.

How does Gulfside help the entire community?
Tampa Bay is our community too, so we want to make sure that we do all that we can to give back.
We partner with several like-minded organizations and offer community events like educational seminars, presentations, medical training for CPR and first aid and support groups for caregivers and those facing a loss.
We also orchestrate several ways for others to give back to our community through volunteering with Gulfside.
With locations in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties, we are an integral part of the community and feel it is our responsibility to return the support we receive every day.
