Experiencing a loved one's death can be one of the most difficult and painful times in an individual's life. Grief is a normal and natural response to that loss and the changes it brings.
Gulfside's Bereavement Support Groups are open to everyone in the community to share their loss experience with others who are also grieving. Participants in the grief support groups gain a better understanding of their own experience and learn to empathize with one another, contributing to self-esteem, trust, and hope in the future. For information about upcoming support groups, call the bereavement department at 727-845-5707. Groups are currently being held through online video formats in addition to limited-capacity in-person groups, to allow for compliance with social distancing. To learn more about other Bereavement Services offered by Gulfside, click here. All bereavement services are offered at no cost thanks to generous donations from the community. |
Pets give us companionship and unconditional love. Our relationships with them are very special. For many of us, our companion animal is a member of the family, and when the bond we share is broken, the resulting sense of loss and grief is as real and sometimes as overwhelming as when we lose a relative or human friend.
The first step in coping with your grief is to acknowledge your feelings. At the Gulfside Hospice Pet Loss Support Group, you can share your feelings with others who are going through a similar experience. Gulfside's Pet Loss Support Group is facilitated by Chaplain Michael Merritt at the Rucki Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills. For more information or to RSVP, call 727-845-5707. |
