Gulfside Hospice provides medical care to each hospice patient at home, in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and in our hospice houses. Our physicians, nurses (RN, LPN and Hospice Aides), medical social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and our bereavement counselor staff pride themselves on providing the highest level of quality care possible with compassion and dignity. This interdisciplinary team approach supports not only the patient but the entire family.
Physicians & ARNPs
Gulfside's team of board-certified physicians and advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNP) work closely with each patient to develop a personalized, comprehensive plan of care. They provide regular visits to each patient, and prescribe medications to help with pain and discomfort as needed. Patients can also elect to continue seeing their own primary care physician while on hospice services.
Nursing Team
Our hospice-trained nursing team consists of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and hospice aides. Their main concern is the patient's comfort, and can adjust medications as ordered by the doctors. Hospice aides are available to help with personal care.
Social Workers
When hospice care is initiated, Gulfside's social workers are available to help patients and families adjust to the new journey. They are available to assist with important decisions, placement arranges, navigate the ever-changing healthcare system, and many other issues surrounding a life-limiting illness.
Chaplains
Gulfside's non-denominational chaplains are available to support and guide patients spiritually. They offer spiritual care services sensitive to the needs of those facing a life-limiting illness.
Patient Care Volunteers
Gulfside's trained volunteers can help families and patients by running errands, staying with the patient to allow the caregiver to run errands or take a break, and helping with other tasks that are guided by the patient's needs. Volunteers also take the time to visit with patients in facilities and the Gulfside Centers for Hospice Care to provide companionship.
Bereavement Counselors
Bereavement services are available for both family members of Gulfside Hospice patients and members of the community. They offer individual counseling, support groups, grief workshops, family counseling, and more.
